Experience Full Smooth Omni-Directional Locomotion in VR with Alto100

Mark Metry Founder VU Dream

Mark Metry, Founder of VU Dream

In a previous article, I asked you…

What’s the best locomotion movement option that will not create motion sickness?

I then went on to say “Nobody knows yet because the definitive data isn’t available.”

That claim might be invalid now because of the rapid advances in immersive technologies. One startup behind a potential solution is Visospace, a Sydney, Australia-based team of talented engineers.
The team at Visospace built a new tool helps users move through 3D, Virtual, and Augmented Reality spaces in a way that feels natural and intuitive.

Visospace’s claim for making the Alto100 board because:

● Current methods of moving in VR feel un-natural and break immersion
● Using current controllers to move the ‘virtual self’ cause nausea (sim-sickness)
● We all want to reach out and feel the virtual world we see, but cannot
“the closest thing to lucid dreaming I have experienced…”
– Abby, Person who experience the Alto Board
That platform is the Alto, and it is now available through the exclusive Alto100 Campaign for developers, beta testers, and early adopters to allow full, free, omnidirectional VR locomotion without causing nausea and motion sickness.
Altoboard VR
Alto is opening the crowdfunding campaign to just 100 developers around the world to closely work with the support team and offer feedback to improve. The Alto100 Indiegogo campaign has a crowdfunding goal of $10,000 AUD (~$7,500), and is selling the Alto dev kit for $790 AUD (~$590 USD) a piece.

Visospace Needs:
  • Funds to pay for tooling, production, and delivery of the Alto
  • Beta testers to start using the Alto and start making experiences for it with our support
  • Our Alto100 developers to share their development with their own community in preparation for the second campaign
“Imagine the web implemented in VR. You need a way to move in that space believably and seamlessly. The Alto is the mouse for immersive VR and AR environments right now, but it’s also the user interface for the internet of the future.”
– Dr. Puya Abolfathi, CEO and co-founder of Visospace.
